TV Rack Systems Engineer (Contract)

Location: Bristol Country: UK
 

WA Consultants is currently recruiting for a contract TV Rack Systems Engineer for a client based in Bristol.

The ideal candidate will have a robust background in electronic engineering or manufacturing, working electronics assemblies. You will need a keen understanding of safety standards, system design, and cable management. You will have a basic CAD capability for designing custom metal panel parts. Have solid organisational and logistic skills required to kit and build units for a range of internal and external customers.

You will be comfortable with PC hardware, the Ubuntu operating system, and general system configurations, including Routers and Wi-Fi setups.

Responsibilities:

  • Disassembling TV's and Set Top Box units to mount their boards into test systems.
  • Connecting the TV board interfaces into the rack systems to varying client requirements.
  • Develop and construct custom rack units tailored for test automation of TV software products.
  • Implement electrical and hardware solutions adhering to the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Understand the CE Directive, and its implications for rack systems.
  • Manage cable looms effectively for organised and efficient system configurations.
  • Set up and maintain PC hardware, Routers, and WiFi networks within an Ubuntu operating system environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to develop, refine, and innovate system designs.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and system issues swiftly and efficiently.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and methodologies in test automation and system design relevant to the TV software industry.
  • Exhibit excellent customer-facing skills and the ability to represent the company professionally in client interactions.
  • Be willing to travel across the UK for project implementations and customer support.
  • Manage the procurement of parts and equipment, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Utilise PCB and CAD design tools for necessary system modifications and enhancements.
  • Work on site at customer locations to install, configure and maintain systems

Essential skills:

  • Degree or vocational qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in electronic engineering and hardware development, ideally with TV's or monitors, perhaps working with rack units and test automation systems in the TV software sector.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, system design, and cable management.
  • Comfortable with PC hardware, Ubuntu operating system, and network configurations.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and system domains.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities, with customer-facing experience.
  • Highly organised with proven ability to manage time effectively and handle the procurement process for parts and equipment.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK as required for customer support and project implementation.
  • Detail-oriented, with a passion for technology and innovation in the TV software industry.
